Couples Therapy Intensives: For Monogamous and ENM

Couples intensives are for those times when weekly therapy isn't always enough. And for many of my clients, because of their busy lives, it's not even possible. If you don't have the time to come to weekly sessions, that does not mean you can't get the support your relationship needs. Couples intensives are extended sessions, designed for couples and multi-partner relationships who are ready for deep transformation. These sessions provide focused, uninterrupted time, to deep dive and work through challenges.

Couples intensives are a powerful option whether you're rebuilding trust, working through a difficult season, or just want to jumpstart your healing journey — these sessions are built to meet you exactly where you are.

I work with busy professionals who need meaningful progress without the stress of weekly scheduling. I specialize in relationship repair for couples and poly relationships alike. If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed,  this is your space to do the work—with clarity, intention, and support that actually moves the needle.

Stuck in the same fights, wondering how it all spiraled? It doesn’t have to stay this way. Intensives help you break the cycle and rediscover the calm, connection, and joy you’ve been missing.

When every conversation feels like a battle and you’re left asking, How did we get here?

Why Choose extended session?

  • Focused Time: Dedicated time to address relational challenges without the interruptions of daily life
  • Save time: Skip the weekly scheduling stress and get results faster
  • Go deeper: Spend intentional time unpacking the patterns beneath the pain—without the pressure to wrap up or leave things unresolved.
  • Walk away with support: Leave with strategies you can implement immediately to improve your relationship
  • Tailored to your needs: Whether you're in crisis or seeking clarity, these packages meet you where you are.

With this accelerated approach, we can customize treatment to fit your unique needs, giving you back valuable time to focus on implementing skills and tools aimed at improving your relationship. I stay calm and grounded when things feel messy, and I'm not going to shy away from naming what's getting in the way and keeping you stuck.

This work is especially meaningful for BIPOC and interracial couples navigating the added weight of cultural differences, family expectations, and identity within a relationship. When your backgrounds, values, or even your politics don't perfectly align, whether that's across racial lines or across the aisle, the friction can feel personal in ways that are hard to explain to someone who hasn't lived it. And when one or both partners are also navigating ADHD, the layers of miscommunication, emotional dysregulation, and mismatched needs can make an already difficult dynamic feel impossible to untangle. That tension is real, and it deserves real attention.

Whether you're facing a difficult season or looking to deepen your connection, intensive therapy offers the opportunity to look forward to your time spent together again, build tools to navigate conflict in a healthy way, reignite your sex life, and get clear about relational agreements moving forward.

Intensives are customized to meet your goals, pace, and the depth of support you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions or need help deciding if this is the right fit, feel free to reach out using the link below—we’ll sort it out together.

What is a couples intensive?

A couples intensive is an extended, focused session designed to give you and your partner dedicated, uninterrupted time to do the deep work your relationship needs. Rather than meeting for 50 minutes once a week, couples intensives create a concentrated block of time where we can slow down, go beneath the surface, and make real progress together. I offer couples intensives both in-person and online across California.

Do you offer intensive couples therapy virtually?

Yes. most may actually prefer it! You get to be in the comfort of your own home and have access to items and spaces that gain be supportive in this experience.

Telehealth options are available for California-based clients. We’ll assess whether virtual delivery supports the depth and safety required for your goals.

How is a couples intensive different from a regular session?

A couples intensive gives you something a standard session simply cannot: time. Instead of picking up and putting down the same conversation week after week, a couples intensive allows us to stay in it, work through it, and actually get somewhere. The extended format means less time warming up and more time doing the work that matters.

Who is a couples intensive right for?

Couples intensives are a great fit for partners who are ready to make meaningful progress but don't have the availability for weekly appointments. They are also ideal for couples who feel like they keep hitting the same wall and need focused, structured support to break through. Whether you are in a moment of crisis or simply want to strengthen your relationship, a couples intensive meets you where you are.

What if we need follow-up support after intensive is complete?

You’re not left hanging. We’ll explore options for continued care—whether with me or a trusted referral—to help you integrate what you’ve gained. Some may prefer to schedule ongoing intensive at less frequency than traditional weekly sessions.

What happens during a couples intensive?

Every couples intensive is personalized to your specific needs and relationship dynamics. We begin by exploring what's been getting in the way, identify the patterns underneath the conflict, and build practical tools you can use in real life. I stay calm and direct throughout the process, naming what needs to be named so we can move forward with clarity and intention.

What are your rates for a customized experience?

Rates begin at $300/hr and vary based on availability, treatment goals, and members within couple or family unit. During our initial session, we’ll explore what’s bringing you in, who’s involved (individual, couple, or family), and what kind of support would best serve the change you’re seeking. Clinical recommendations—including session length, format, and frequency—are tailored to help you get the most traction, not just time.

What should we expect after a couples intensive?

After a couples intensive, we schedule a follow-up session to review the progress you've made and identify anything that still feels unresolved. From there, you can choose the level of ongoing support that fits your lives, whether that's a future intensive, monthly sessions, or as-needed check-ins. The goal is flexible, meaningful support that continues to build on the work you've already done.

How do we know if we're ready for a couples intensive?

If you and your partner are both willing to show up, be honest, and do the work, you are ready. Couples intensives are not about being in a perfect place; they are about being committed to getting to a better one. The free 20-minute consultation is a great starting point to talk through whether an intensive is the right fit for where you are right now.

Therapy With Alanna is a couples therapy practice based in Pleasanton, CA, serving couples online throughout California. I work with BIPOC, interracial, and neurodivergent couples who are stuck in painful patterns and quietly terrified of losing the relationship they've worked so hard to build. My approach is direct, warm, and grounded in real tools, not vague affirmations. I will challenge you, sit with you, and help you get back to the people you were when you fell in love.
